Sweet Nasturtium

Full LP by Carolina Spoonbread

A cottagecore-inspired concept album by indie folk band Carolina Spoonbread. This release is their first full album.

Inspired by the trending 2020 subculture called “cottagecore” that developed its aesthetics on TikTok and Instagram, Sweet Nasturtium is Carolina Spoonbread’s first full LP. With the two hit singles “Yesteryear” and “Garden Song,” the album features twelve debut songs that evoke memories of barefoot gardening and secluded escapes. The nostalgia brought forth from the band’s melancholy melodies, dappled with mandolin and piano tracks, caresses the listener, taking them back to a more joyful, brighter springtime yet is tinged with the gloom of the impending dark days of winter.

For this project, I used my own digital photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, and Indesign to create my images. I also borrowed Molly Katzen’s The Enchanted Broccoli Forrest cookbook to design the inner sleeve illustrations, which I scanned and formatted in Photoshop.
