Comfort
A Coloring Zine for Quarantine
Seven illustrated spreads of things that have brought me comfort and helped me get through the COVID-19 pandemic.
With each spread representing a letter in the word “comfort,” this little coloring book showcases the best of the best for my quarantine experience. During this year, I was laid off and decided to move across the country to go back to school. With lots more free time on my hands, I started illustrating once again and took a liking to line art illustration. This book is the culmination of “the year I started drawing again” and represents why I am drawn to art as a form of self care. This zine acts as an anxiety release for the beholder and is my gift of self care to each and every owner. I hope everyone who gets to color one can slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life. Turn on a Harry Potter movie (I watched five of them making this booklet), light a scented candle, and just bask in life’s simple comforts.
For this project, I used a metal ruler, sketchbook, mechanical pencil, sharpie pen, and Micron pen to illustrate each spread. I assembled scans of each illustration and colorized them in Photoshop.
