Mycophest

A Mycolicious, Mycological Festival

A mushroom festival in Portland, OR, inspired by the documentary Fantastic Fungi and my personal love of mushrooms.

Mycophest is an annual mushroom festival in Portland, Oregon, celebrating all things mycological, from the newest advancements in mushroom science to our famous wild foods dinner demo. Come celebrate the world of fungi with a weekend full of mushroom-themed events from our top-notch costume contest to the mushroom parade. 

The goal for this project was to create a festival or event with a target audience, culturally-inspired branding, and cohesive event collateral. My hope was for guests attending Mycophest to experience the brand through the modernized 70’s-style branding, quirky illustrations, and a vibrant color palette. The event’s audience includes the following: mushroom lovers (mycophiles), mycologists, foodies, foragers, Earth-lovers, local artists, outdoor enthusiasts, and art collectors. Located in Cathedral park, the two day festival has a full line-up of events with guest speakers including top mycologists Paul Stamets and Peter McCoy, as well as food journalist and writer Michael Pollan.
